Going west from Dendrinata you come to Myrtos beach (see
right) famed for its crystal clear blue water and white sand, it
is rated in the top ten beaches of Europe and only a 15 minute drive away
from Valley View. Facilitieson the beach include a
snack bar, sunbeds and parasol hire, showers, W.C'S and telephone. Whilst
development is restricted within the beach vacinity, there are a
couple of nice Tavernas at the start of the access road down to
the beach in Divarata. |

Very
beautiful set in a sun-trap valley Assos offers the visitor a choice
of excellent Tavernas and coffee shops. For those who are interested
in walking the 15th century castle at the top of the hill is worth
the effort. The views from the top are breath taking, assuming you
have any left after the walk! Caution.
| A further 20 minute drive to the northern tip of the island and you are in Fiskardo, (see
picture right) with its colourful Venetian style buildings that survived the 1953 earthquake.
As the picture shows this is a resort to see and be seen in, a paradise for yacht lovers.
The parking here is in a large car park at the top of the town which
is well sign posted. No cars are allowed to enter the town itself. |

On leaving Agia Efimia the eastern coastline winds its way along passing many secluded white sandy bays, while across the water you can see the island of Ithica. The first little town that you come to is Karavomylos, a charming little resort famous for its underground Lake Melissani, the Katavothres and Lake Karavomylos (picture below left) Just a few minutes further along this coast and you arrive at Sami the largest town in this area. Boats of many kinds arrive at this port from all over Greece, there is also a tourist marina where visiting yachts are made welcome. All around the waterside there are pavement cafes where you can sip a drink or two and take in the panoramic view of mountains and sea. This view of Sami Bay (below right) is taken from Aghia Fanentes Monastery 270m above sea level.
